The passing of a rogue extraordinaire [Jul. 24th, 2011|11:15 am]

The passing of a one of a kind Rogue

It breaks my heart to announce this but this world has lost a most amazing and much loved Rogue. John Broadfoot passed away last night at 1:10 am eastern time. He is with his best friend Lori Stipe Russell, aka our own Allie Sutherland again, as much as we wish he wasn't.

Please continue to send your prayers and strength for his wife, Amy, as she will need them to help her through this. For those who know the family, condolence messages are wonderful and appreciated but please allow them the space and time needed to deal with all of this.

At this time no arrangements have been made, but I promise to update everyone here with the information as soon as I know.

Please light a candle and send him off with light and love.

Thank you for all the prayers and support of the past few weeks. It has meant more than words can say.

Privateer Feast #10: "Ten years of the Best Support A Boobie Ever Had!" [Jan. 11th, 2011|10:53 am]

Team Wench will hold its Tenth Annual Privateer Feast “To Save the Treasured Chest” benefiting breast cancer awareness and research on Saturday, March 5th, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Join us in our endeavor to reach new heights with “Ten Years of the Best Support a Boobie Ever Had!”

Team Wench will be returning to last year's venue, the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company (VFC) in Severna Park, Maryland. Its huge galley and well-stocked hold will be serving up plenty of mouth-watering dishes to satisfy your hunger. Hungry, or should I say THIRSTY, for more than a fine meal? The grog will flow freely again this year and yer still welcome to bring yer own wondrous libations. If you prefer to wet yer whistle with libations of a softer nature, not to worry, we'll have plenty of options on-hand. How will you bide your time on this voyage? We've shanghaied the best in piratical entertainment and plundered quite a bit of rare & valuable swag just for you to bid on. So pack yer sea chest or grab your ditty bag and prepare to set sail!

Feast tickets will go on sale through TicketLeap beginning Friday, January 14 at Noon for the Early Bird Price $50 (plus TicketLeap Fees). Be sure to buy your tickets before Monday, February 14 at 11:59 p.m EST to get the Early Bird price.

If you wait til February 15 you can still buy Feast tickets, but at the Regular Price of $60 (plus TicketLeap Fees). Tickets will be available at this price until Wednesday, March 2 at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Please visit http://pf.TeamWench.org/ for complete details.

Redistribution of this letter is not only permitted but encouraged - Thank you!

pls PM me - I need to get a message to Animal X of Dragon Scales and Faerie Tales.

She's our costume guest at Windycon this fall and she's got some e-mails waiting in her in box that we need to poke her about.

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! [Jan. 22nd, 2010|07:41 pm]

[mood |excitedexcited]

Merry Measure is starting out 2010 in style!

First out, we'll be playing at ReenactorFest in Wheeling at The Westin North Shore hotel on Saturday Feb. 6th. Admission is $15 for a one-day pass, but you get a lot of value for that- seminars, a dealers hall, demonstrations and performances by other musical guests. Our shows are scheduled for 12:45 and 5:30.

We encourage everyone to come visit us at the 2010 Chicago Maritime Festival - February 27th at the Chicago History Museum. As usual, all three of us will be working the Crew and singing in the All-Hands as well as the special super-sekrit Sunday afternoon Shanty Sing at a location to be disclosed only to festival attendees. Enjoy classes and concerts by international maritime artists as well.

We start the rev-up for St. Patrick's Day on Saturday March 13th at Duke's Alehouse and Kitchen (Formerly Duke O'Briens) in Crystal Lake IL. After all, you need to start drinking early (I guess). Great food, Great beer, Great Music (and lousy parking). We;re on from 5-9PM.

Then on Wednesday March 17th from 4-6 PM at Durty Nellie's in Palatine IL. Once again, we're thrilled to have an early enough slot where we can all be out of there before the "Plastic Paddys" show up after work!

And look in the upcoming issue of Renaissance Magazine for a review of 'Faire Warning'. Sure, she hated the first song and got the whole 'Merry Measure' and 'Minstrosity' thing terribly confused, but hey - it's publicity!

Tee Morris and Sonic Boom. [Jan. 7th, 2010|11:57 pm]

[mood |sadsad]

Tee Morris lost his wife suddenly this week. He now has a young daughter to raise on his own in these tough economic times. If you remember Tee from his time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, or if you've read and enjoyed his books, or listened to his podcasts, or if you just have a buck or two that could go to help out in his time of need, please chip in what you can.

Paragon Jousting Updates [Nov. 11th, 2009|03:16 pm]

The 2009 touring season has ended, and we are getting ready for 2010! We're expecting more shows, in more places, and bigger shows with lots of new surprises!

To that end, when The Connecticut Renaissance Faire ended, Scott spent a few more days running around New England, and came home with two new horses for the Paragon Jousting herd. Paragon Jousting has acquired a Friesian Andalusian cross, standing at about 16.2 hands, and a Missouri Foxtrotter at about 15 hands who will be a perfect Match for Mister Mister. Both horses are black, show great aptitude for jousting, and have already started their training at Paragon Stables in Aurora, New York. Watch for profiles and pictures on our newest warhorses coming up soon!

We're also very excited to announce our new relationship with House Shadow Wolf who is now the OFFICIAL armor sponsor for Paragon Jousting. Click on over to our Links page and check them out.
